Today we filmed Emma and Stacey's outside scenes. We mimicked the shots that we filmed using myself for the anxiety scenes as well as other scenes of both characters going to a lecture.
The shots included:
Establishing close up shots of both characters
Eating disorder character walking with a friend to her lecture.
Both characters bumping into each other on the way to the lecture.
After being given feedback on our current edit of our film and we discussed that the quality difference with the outside scenes and inside scenes was significantly different so we decided to drop the lecture scenes altogether. We decided that to replace the lecture scenes we should film Stacey and Emma outside similar to how we filmed the outside parts for anxiety.
After listening to our feedback, our group decided to go back to the same lecture / seminar room that we used the previous week and filmed more footage with the three characters together. We decided to link this scene back to our original research when we discovered the mental health awareness video where the people suffering with illness spoke to the camera. It was hard to remember the words but we was able to successfully film the characters individually speaking into the camera and them speaking into the camera with a wide shot.
Me, Emma, Stacey were asked to learn a script before the next shoot so we would be able to know it ourselves without any mistakes when talking into the camera.
After deciding that we should establish statistics for the voiceover, I decided to show the group a film I had watched during Sixth form called "Miss Representation". The film is about how women are portrayed in society. From 8:20 onwards, the screen reveals statistics which I thought was a good way to approach mental health statistics.
For the voiceover for our short film we had an idea of having a discussion amongst ourselves talking about how the disorders shown in the film are treated in society and how they shouldn't and should be treated. We had numerous talks but decided that this was not very suiting to our footage and we should stick to the idea of having a voiceover from the characters establishing statistics and personal feelings which have been obtained from websites we've researched.
With a lot of struggle we finally found a lecture / seminar room which was free for the day due to it being an applicant day. We filmed the scenes when the 3 characters come together. Main points of this scene:
To show a sense of togetherness, for example Anxiety smiles to support when she sees the ana blogs on the laptop.
Anxiety character is finally able to take out her earphones to stop isolating herself.
OCD character trusts someone else to pick up her belongings when she drops them.
This scene is meant to show a positive side and breaking the conventions that people who suffer with a mental health disorder are not alone or do not fit in society.
